Description:
Hello, we are Birmingham's most versatile oldies band, "The Vinyls". We are sure to please both young and old with songs that live forever. From Aretha Franklin to The Beatles, from Wilson Pickett to The Monkees, we have it covered. We enjoy playing those familiar songs that most of us listened to on transistor radios. These songs never grow old. The music takes you back, makes you happy and makes you move. Each member of "The Vinyls" brings a passion for the music they love from the best decades in popular music. You can't go wrong. Your party and our music make the perfect mix.
Band Members:
The Vinyls began with a conversation between Steve Burks and Ronnie Harbison about the great songs of the 50’s and 60’s and how much fun the music was to listen to and play. Ronnie was contacted out of the blue by Mike Shackelford, a drummer, and the idea of creating a band began to take root. Ronnie, the lead guitarist, brought in his son, Andrew, an all-around musician, to play saxophone. Steve, the keyboard player brought in his long-time friend, Terry Case, for lead vocalist. Steve placed a help wanted ad for a female vocalist on a musicians’ web site at the same time Gail Perkins was placing an ad looking for a group. The two ads could not have been more specifically meant for each other. The only band member now needed was a bass player. The Vinyls again reached out to the musicians’ community and found Dave Evans. The Vinyls band was now complete. Each member of this group is a gifted musician. They have all sung and played in local groups over the years. They are united in their love of good music and wholesome entertainment for all ages
