Band Members:
Once upon a time in Lynchburg, Dennis Johnson was a member of the Delta Blues team of “Jump Street”. They entertained the Central Virginia area and amazed audiences everywhere with their authenticity while staying true to traditional sound and techniques heard by them. The crowds were drawn into the proverbial web.
After a very successful run, Mr. Johnson (Deanie) decided to fill in the gaps of the modern R&B sound inspired by traditional Blues. You see, he believed the apple didn’t fall too far from the tree… and so the quest began.
You know it’s not easy to find pieces to a dream you haven’t quite figured out yet. The first stop was a three piece group that did pretty well for themselves. They performed in venues and also won the Sedalia Blues competition.
Deanie’s dream was about to take form. He soon hooked up with an R&B Rock and Roll guitarist by the name of Mr. Gregg Yeager, a former member of the infamous King Snakes. This choice would prove to be a custom fit. Sort of like a soft leather shoe, an expensive leather shoe.
Then along came the bassist, Mr Hershel Diggs, who was quite a seasoned individual himself. Here is where the sound Deanie was looking for started to unfold.
A new member was needed to replace the drive of the band’s original drummer. Deanie dug deep into his archives to find a musician from his past, Mr. James “Cub” Mosby, who provided the necessary strong drive and finesse. Thus the birth of “The Deanie Blues Band” or so we thought…..
A year or two passed and then along came Mr. Rick Hill, a veteran to the music industry for 30 years or more with some well known groups. This was an addition that was full of unexpected pleasures. Rick’s awkward Latin rhythm and Jazz rock solo, added an interesting touch on an already perfect Delta R&B effect…… together, the soup was done.
