Description:
Indie-rock 'n roll/ accoustic punk/ indie-pop: from loud and fast and thrilling with cannonball drums and crunching guitars and poppy bass grooves to bare bones acoustic rage and sweet, elegiac tenderness. Lyrically the music is a verbal nervous breakdown on the subjects of love and lostness and chaos at an age when the world is calling you to responsibility.
Turbo Rathvon started out as the solo project of a poet and writer (Keith Nelson) with an interest in making music. After years of writing and recording solo, Keith sought the help of talented musicians to further expand and his songs and articulate them by placing them in more of a rock setting. Carl Olson and Jordan Curtis, two very different, but extremely talented guitarists, had been playing together for a few months, and were looking for someone with original songs who was willing to sing and interested in starting a band. At their initial get-together, the three began making a righteous racket, as Carl and Jordan quickly went to work like wizards on guitar, and Keith howled out his music in a manner he was unaccustomed to. They figured it all sounded pretty good, and decided to form a band together. They immediately went about searching for the best drummer in Duluth, which they found in Ken Nyberg, a creative drummer who was slick and swift on the skins and cymbals. To complete the sound, they sought out a steady and versatile bass player. After a few auditions, they found him in Adam Metzer, who filled out their sound with his vigorous basslines. The result? a young rock and roll band ready to knock your socks off.
