Any music fan can ravage in Justin’s lead guitar, flowing perfectly over James’ original, catchy and melodic riffs. Derek’s percussion consistently remains in the pocket, intertwined with Stewy’s own simplistic, yet unique, style. The combination of two or more singers provides a deep and vast potential for their music as well.

MODENA doesn’t conform to a "blueprint,” so commonly heard in today’s new rock music. Their catchy, hard edged sound can not be defined by merely one classification. They are rock in its truest form, as committed to originality as to the rock scene itself.

“There is no rule or formula for writing our music,” James says, “Everyone is open to do what they please as long as it sounds right. There’s no such thing as a hierarchy in our band.”

With a complete lineup and an EP of original songs, MODENA stands poised at the forefront of a new generation of rock n’ roll bands, ready to return the Raleigh scene to its creative roots as a musical oasis and hurl rock back to the top of the artistic tier.

Band Members:
Justin - Vocals & Lead Guitar: Justin's goal from the get-go of each show is to give every individual their money's worth. Not just by 'showing off' his talent, but by actually capturing the essence of conception that his unique guitar licks and vocal lines bring to MODENA.

Jaymz - Vocals & Rhythm Guitar: In 2005, James Carlson had an relative idea of what MODENA would eventually become. He didn't know where it would go or what it would sound like; he just knew it would rock anyone's brain who dared to take a listen. As you can tell, four years later, the unique vision & writing style of Jaymz combined with his fellow band-mates has become one of the most influential up-and-coming rock acts the Southeast has to offer.

Stewy - Bass & Backing Vox: If anyone can tell you low life can treat you - it's Stewy. He's been through it all. A broken home, a near-death surgery, recovery, but most of all - HOPE. A kind of hope that the future can, and will, bring brighter things to life. He brings the soul and emotion to MODENA with his ability to purvey the raw feelings that life has to offer.

Derek – A strict student of rhythm, percussion, and everything in-between. Derek is the back-bone of the band. He holds together the delicate parts that make this whole journey possible. Constantly looking to improve, he hones the skills of many years of strict drum-line experience. Well thought-out drum licks, combined with natural solid groove, give him the perfect combination to be one of rock's most influential drummers.
