Description:
In Defense of a Marionette started out as a solo project consisting of only Mat Charley. For three years, he wrote, recorded, and produced his music from a basement studio, playing all the instruments and programming by himself.
Recently, Mat decided to make In Defense of a Marionette a full band in order to play live shows and tour, so Dan Hansen was added. Matt and Dan had been in a couple of bands together before, so they had some chemistry (or whatever). Shortly after Dan was added, Joel Janikowski joined the band to play guitar and sing some harmonies. After trying a few drummers, Tim Olson's drums (and voice) were added to the lineup. Finally, Casey Black joined to play bass and add his voice to the lineup, as well as lend his production skills to the band's recordings.
