From the depths of Southern Illinois comes one of Christian rock's newest acts--AWAKEN. The group features vocalist/bassist Jacob Holmes, guitarist Lawson Lankford, percussionist Joseph Holmes and backup vocalist Tracy Holmes. By combining the bands many musical influences, Awaken has developed a style that appeals to a wide audience. This has allowed the group to play to various ages and settings that have ranged from all out youth-based events to Sunday morning worship services. But whether its plugging in and playing loud or performing a laid back acoustic set, Awaken feels right at home because most importantly, this band delivers a message of faith. It does not take long to realize that spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ is the number one goal for this outfit. The group is quick to explain that "...without Him, Awaken would not exist. It is through His guidance and strength that we have gotten this far." And just as faith and trust go hand in hand, so does the passion and the message that this band's music unveils. United as one--awaken for Christ.
