Description:
We are Death Grape Queens was formed in early 2006 by former lead singer of local Maryland band Circus Circus Riley Vogel and bassist "Big" Phil Ellis. With influences from across the board, The Brandos refuse to accept a label or a genre, we play rock and roll and whatever else we want. We do both covers and original songs, with lyrics ranging from protest to love. We base our band off of the quote, "The world is in prison, and we're planning a jailbreak."
Band Members:
Riley "O'Reilly" Vogel- Lead Vocals and lyricist for the band, Riley loves the stage and takes after his idols including Jello (from the Dead Kennedys), Tomas Kalnoky (from Catch 22 and Streetlight Manifesto), Michael Graves (from the Misfits), Freddy Mercury (from Queen), Van Morrison, and many more.
"Big" Phil Ellis- Bassist and backing vocals for the band, Phil is our local metalhead who models himself in the image of such artists as Geezer Butler (from Black Sabbath), Steve Harris (Iron Maiden), Blackie Lawless (W.A.S.P.), Cliff Burton (Metallica), Rudy Sarzo (Quiet Riot), Frank Bello (Anthrax), Tom Araya (Slayer), and others.
Evan jOnes- Our other Lead Vocalist and occasional Keyboardist, Evan's influences come from people such as Joanne Vaskawiz, Marilyn Manson, Jim Morrison (from The Doors), Maynard James Keenan (from Tool), Stephen Gammell(artist), Trent Renzor(from Nine Inch Nails), Jimmy Urine(from Eagles of Death Metal), etc.
Russian- um... all we, or anyone for that matter, really knows about him is that he's russian and he plays drums. He listens to Dream Theatre and Daft Punk and hates everyone and just about every band, including his own.
Brandon "Brando" Edelberg- Last but not least our amazing guitarist Brando shreds his way through our songs, our '90's kid, Brando takes after The Smashing Pumpkins, The Vines, The White Stripes, Nirvana, The Dicks, Queens of the Stone Age, Jimi Hendrix, Modest Mouse, Marilyn manson, Nine Inch Nails, Drowning Pool, and other random bands.
