Mel Parker a Virginia based performing singer /songwriter his 4th CD “Ballads, Boogie and Blues” was released April 20, 2010. The 17 song CD is a Joy to hear... The stable and passionate balladeer tones of the Soul-singing country crooner will remind you of artist like George Strait,Bon Jovi, Marty Robbins,Patsy Cline, Jim Reeves,Collin Raye, Vince Gill,Chuck Willis,Bing Crosby, Andy Williams, Hank Williams, the Isley Brothers,Ernest Tubb or Elvis and Ray Charles...and you'll love Mel. Mel began singing his singing in the 7th Grade talent show at Robert E. Lee Junior High with his rendition of “This Old House” he promptly forgot the words and the “MC” kicked him in the butt and the words returned ,as if by magic. He later performed “Over the Mountain’’ as a Junior at E.C. Glass High School and he became the lead singer for ‘The Chasers’ a rock and roll band and played the “Virginia College Circuit”. He later sang with “the Dukes” and the “Home Towner’s “ In 1979 Mel’s first national release ‘Valdosta Woman’ on MRC records received considerable ‘airplay in the south and provided Mel with the opportunity to appear and perform with country legends Ernest Tubb, Jon Anderson, and Don Reno. Dale Thompson , Mel’s life time music buddy has performed on all of Mel’s CD’s and he provides the music for most of the guitars…he received support from session greats like,Joel Key on guitar, Gary Green on harmonica, Linwood Campbell & Jeff Duffield,Charlie Swank on piano, and Buddy Charlton provided steel guitar licks on “Then, Now…Forever.” along with the fantastic and haunting sounds of “The Late” K.E. Fitzgerald on Mel’s rendition of “Over The Mountain.” Mel was recently honored to be featured in several articles in the 2007 Humana Active Outlook Magazine a proud sponsor of the Grand Ole Opry. The article “Turn Your Radio On the Grand Ole Opry is Playing” opened with the lyrics of one Mel’s latest tunes that will be on Mel’s upcoming CD …”Ballads, Boogie and Blues.” Mel announces to the world he wants to sing on the Opry and his dream persist Mel performs live vocals & harmonica with his original classic country, pop,rock & blues sound tracks at festivals,fairs,corporate functions,reunions and private concerts.
