Description:
Ubie is a one man music/art/core/ dream project that has been evolving since 1994. Growing up in Weston Connecticut, less then an hour outside of N.Y.C, I was introduced to a philosophy early on in my life called D.I.Y (Do It Yourself) . While going to see punk/hardcore bands at a local club called "The Anthrax", I came to learn that artists and musicians alike were no more different or special then me and my friends were. This realization has inspired and motivated me to create, perform and write my own music knowing its all under my own wings to get others interested in the sounds i choose to make. Like most kids I started out as a lover of music but soon it wasn't enough to simply listen, dance and buy the 7 inches(these are records). All throughout high school I played in punk, hardcore, indie style bands with names like "StraightForward", "Get Shorty", "S.O.T.", "Misunderstood", and "Loafmeister". "Loafmeister", released a tape called Lousy in 1992 on "bodervision Recordings", as well as playing a set on a radio program in Bridgeport and releasing a Halloween split 7 inch on TPOS records. In the Years between 1994-1996, while living and going to school in Washington D.C., I wrote, created and published a fan zine called "View". After watching the world turn from an alternative nation into a sad grunge hip movement, hitting its peak at Kurt Cobain's death, I stepped away from writing harder edged songs. I then began to move into a more experimental songwriting sensibility, trying to dig deeper into my person or dare i say soul, recording songs in a project called "DROPOUT". Between the years 1996-1999 I recorded 3-90 minute tapes in this project untill my 4 track player broke.

For it then became time to create the music that my heart yearned for, which can only be explained as an inspiration and conglomeration of many styles. I like.... never define whatever i am involved with creatively, except to say that it is a type of collage art form that i am working through. From 2001-to the present day i have been recording both electronic and acoustic sounds using digital recording. Words and meanings, digging into the understandings or understatements and all the chaotic overwhelming experiences that existence persists with are all important to my minds eye. But i also believe that opening up the imagination of our world selves without confining or pointing out all the colors for others has its time as well. This is what i hope to achieve with my electro rtyhtmic sound movements. The possibilities and differences, all together moving from one direction to another, in time and out of place. The breathing method exists throughout the whole process, where the true direction is up to the listener to find the path in which only they can choose to find. It is here where i like to stretch as far and wide as possible and open myself up to new growing horizons that i can't even concieve of from this where that I write from. And maybe within these electrical designs that have trully been created for all of you, i will have the chance to give the gift that....the gift all know how to give. While I create both electronic as well as ambiant acoustic sounds I will only concentrate on electonic music here. Although I grew up enjoying mostly punk and hardcore music, a listener will quickly notice the many interestingly different influences that exist inside the creations of Ubie.
