Description:
Burden of Desire's relentless dedication to Rock N' Roll subculture and ability to transcend genre paradigms has put them in unique company. "I can't abandon the passionate music that first drew me in, but as an artist, I knew growth was essential in order to diversify myself, and communicate with more people," affirmed guitarist Jeff Alexander.
Formed in 2005, Burden of Desire worked tirelessly to hone their craft and share their music with a broad audience. Invoking Rock N' Rolls early excitement with Punk's fury and political conviction, the band quickly explored their love for all kinds of music, casting aside the limiting baggage that certain genres of music thrust upon artists.
Band Members:
Jeff first met Ashley through an online classified. Together, they collaborated on material and began rehearsing regularly. "I was surprised we were able to compose so well together, our music backgrounds were polar opposites," reflected Alexander.
Their search for a singer ended once Nikki Fleury stepped up to the mic and erased all doubts about her ability to soar over Capossela's and Alexander's intense rhythms. Fleury's insight helped Burden of Desire rise to another level, as her uncompromising attitude allowed the band to further explore issues that affected society as a whole. "The idea of beauty that our society has is just so fucked up. The way the media portray's women with 'perfect bodies' is really gross," stated Fleury.
After trying out a myriad of drummers, Jonathan Gutter first contacted Alexander through a mutual friend. With John's dedication and creativity, Burden of Desire finally added the missing link. "We were all so impressed with his open minded attitude and drive to add more to the band," stated Alexander. Burden of Desire's advent proves that music can transcend barriers and truly impact audiences. "I would like to build a community that's not competitive and exclusive," concluded Fleury. Awareness of issues and injustices is half the struggle, and Burden of Desire's entrance won't be quiet.
