Description:
THE EAGLES MEETS DELBERT MCCLINTON BY WAY OF THE MAVERICKS

Big Rain has been performing nonstop for eleven years. During this time, they have logged over 1,100 performances, performed with some of the biggest names in the business, and have an established reputation as a great band with an uplifting sound. The band’s dynamic sound is built on superb songwriting and vocals. Their performances effortlessly flow from mid- to up- tempo dance songs, to heart- felt ballads and into improvisational jams that the band calls free falling, or Free-Falls.

With the release of three successful albums on their own indie label, Big Rain established themselves as a recording and performing artist with a unique and original sound. After receiving a recording contract with Ray Ruff at Oak Records, they completed their current album Big Rain.

The band completed the new album at American Recording Company with the legendary Producer/Promoter Ray Ruff, of Oak Records and one of the most successful engineer and producer teams of the last 40 years: Bill Cooper and Richie Podolor. The first single, “I’m Not Running,” stayed on the charts for 24 weeks, and hit # 27 on IndieWorld Country Report and # 36 on New Music Weekly National Charts. The second hit single, “Sweet Inspiration,” hit # 14 on New Music Weekly Indie Top 30, # 48 on New Music Weekly Country Main Chart, and went to #1 on IndieWorld. The third single, “December Night”, was released in November 2005, and is already receiving worldwide airplay.

Big Rain features Big Rain’s core trio of Peter Alamo, Bruce Guynn, and James Chatterton. Bruce Guynn handles lead vocals, bass guitar and keyboards. Peter Alamo plays lead and rhythm guitars and sings vocal harmony. James Chatterton adds guitars and piano. On drums and percussion is the renowned session man, Chet McCracken, who was with the Doobie Brothers for 18 years. On several occasions, Chet has received honors as Rock Drummer of the Year. Richie Podolor, one of the pioneers in surf guitar with his hooky melodic styles, and one of the top mandolin players, adds his mandolin to the mix. Richie produced the hits for Three Dog Night and Steppenwolf. He was also rated as the number two on a list of top ten producers for the decade of the 70’s. Two of Southern California’s best, Doug Livingston on peddle steel guitar and Bobby Furgo on fiddle, complete the unique sound that is the album Big Rain.

Big Rain is the true definition of the working man’s band. The trials and tribulations they have faced would have stopped most other bands dead in their tracks, but these guys have stayed true to their artistic vision and true to the music. They have done, with little resources, what others only dream about. With every major set back, they have come away stronger because the music has amazing staying power. Bruce Guynn and Peter Alaimo are fabulous performers and two of the nicest and toughest people you will ever meet. James Chatterton joined forces with them to record the album after performing with them a few times. After several days into the sessions with Ray Ruff and crew, they asked Jim to join the band.

Each song on this album has a strong melody. In this day and age, that is unusual. Most people only find one or two songs on an album that they like. However, when you put great rhythm and groove with strong improvisation, and heart felt vocals into a positive feeling with words that relate, you have music that might last forever. Or for as long as people have ears. The question is, do people have ears, or do they just want to hear what they know? The other question is, do people really have a very short attention span when it comes to music? The answer is that people like to hear what they know, and when they hear something new they like, and it touches them, they are hooked.

That is Big Rain. They are a new sound that others have heard somewhere, but are not sure where until hearing Big Rain.
