Description:
ELYSIUM is an Alternative/Rock/Garage quartet from El Paso, TX. Since the spring of '02, Tom(guitar) and Bugg(drums, bass) have tried to put together a band...usually with less than desirable results. Back then they went by the name Amethyst. Enlisting the musical talents of their friend Dyson(bass), who at the time played guitar and sang, they recorded their very first self-titled demo (only about 100 copies were pressed...and were mostly given to friends and family). Shortly thereafter, Dyson returned to Louisiana...where he served in the United States Air Force...and Tom & Bugg began their search for a new singer. Eventually they found a guy named Rich. They also took on a bass player named Andy. After months and months of practicing, they played their first show at a Halloween party. Unfortunately, this show would also be their last. In the weeks that followed, Rich proved his unreliability by backing out of shows once they'd been booked. He eventually left the band (and the city) without so much as a goodbye. While trying (with very little success) to find a replacement, Andy grew discouraged and followed suit. But he only left the band, not the city. Undaunted, though slightly annoyed, Tom and Bugg continued to jam. After some more time passed, they decided that a name change might do them some good. Weeks of deliberation led to the name Elysium. It sounded good. It felt good to say. It also still felt good to dream of the day when their music would change the world.... In the late spring of '05, Tom was contacted via email by a 17 girl, Jamie(vocals, guitar). He and Bugg had often talked about working with a female vocalist, but had never seriously considered it. On a whim they responded, and by the following evening Jamie was a part of Elysium. Undaunted by the lack of a bass player, they started to play small shows (mostly at house parties) with Bugg on bass and drum recordings.

Dyson's service in the Armed Forces ended for good on Sept. 11, 2005 at which time he officially took over as Elysium's full-time bassist. Elysium was complete and began playing at clubs all over El Paso as well as several "private parties" and benefit concerts. "Ode to ELYSIUM" is the self appointed name of their street team with a growing fan base and their own web site! ELYSIUM is on myspace at: www.myspace.com/elysiummusic This is where you can hear 3 of their ORIGINAL songs.

With over 16 original songs and several cover songs, ELYSIUM is on their way to fulfilling their slogan on the site as: THE NEXT BIG THING.
