Description:
Ossian (pronounced "Ocean") is an Original and Classic (1970's) Rock band that has been (in various member line-ups) rocking Kansas City and the surrounding areas for almost 30 years. With emphasis on perfection, the Gassen boys' different guitar styles compliment each other, and with the driving force of Fred's drumming and the steady, intricate riffs from Steve's bass and Kenny's vocals, Ossian can really "take you back" in time. Covering note-for-note such acts as Clapton, Skynyrd, Joe Walsh, Thin Lizzy, Ted Nugent or Molly Hatchet, as well as belting out a few tasty originals, Ossian is the quintisential classic rock band in Kansas City. UPDATE: With the addition of key wiz John Selle, the band has worked up TWO FULL SETS of strictly Lynyrd Skynyrd material that will make you think you're at a Skynyrd show!

The double lead guitars of Kevin Gassen and his younger brother Eric, driven by the rhythym section of powerhouse drummer Kevin "Fred" Holder and bass guitarist Steve Malott, and the clean, yet edgy vocals of Kenny Buetel, this band is one of the best versions of Ossian over the past 28 years. Kevin Gassen is one of 2 original Ossian guitarists. (Older bro Mark Gassen was the other original Ossian guitarist). His style is a cross between Eric Clapton and Allen Collins (Skynyrd). Youngest brother Eric Gassen formerly played smokin' lead guitar for the now-defunct Mortal Reign. His diverse style is drawn from Nugent, Eric Liefson (Rush), Malmsteen and Gary Rossinton (Skynyrd). Fred is the original drummer for Ossian, and has played in every version of the band since its inception in 1977. Bassist Steve Malott is a very experinced bass player who draws his diverse riffs from the likes of Chris Squire (Yes) and Leon Wilkerson (Skynyrd). Kenny Buetel was a former bass player and back-up vocalist that delivers clear and steady vocals be it an original or a cover tune. UPDATE!!! OSSIAN has added ex-Menace frontman Rick Waller as lead vocalist and will front the August 12th show at Eclipse Bar & Grill in Raytown, Missouri. Ossian will be soon adding to their ranks the keyboard extrodinnaire John Selle of the Selle Brothers Band for the August 19th benefit show at Chief's Bar & Grill in Merriam, Kansas. John's unique honkytonk/ragtime/rock styles make him one of the best and sought-after keyboard players in the Kansas City area. John's piano/keys will be adding tremendous depth to Ossian's sound - giving an actual "eerieness" to their covers of Lynyrd Skynyrd songs.
