Band Members:
Kaleida is the porduct of years of colaboration between separate members of what the band is now today. The brothers, Andrew and Dan have been playing together ever since they picked up insturments way back in elementry school. Andrew, being two years older then his brother Dan, is seventeen and a senior at Middletown High School, and Dan a sophmore at Middletown also. About four years ago, Andrew was in a band called Frantic Dsipute with a few friends from Middletown, they were semi successful, playing many back-yard shows and being well-known around school promoted by Frantic Dsipute t-shirts that everyone wore. Fast forward about a year, Andrew went to a music store in Dover, Delaware and met a random kid named Shawn. He was beat his heart away at the electric drums. Andrew asked to listen, so Shawn gave the headphones to Andrew. He replied, "Damn dude! Your pretty good!", then walked away. Shawn was currently in a band called Phenecaine. A few weeks later, Andrew checked the guestbook at the Frantic Dispute site and Shawn elft a message telling about how he saw the Frantic Dispute website on the back of his shirt. They soon called eachother and were doing some bass and drum type music, than soon realized they needed to try out a few guitarists. They tried out three guitarists, one being Phil, another random kid, and Dan (Andrew and Dan had a few songs that they have made prior to this). We passed up the first guitarist, then we decided not to have Phil in the band because he didn't have nice equipment and did not sound very good with our style at the time. Shawn, Andrew, and Dan jammed together for a good amount of time and after countless vocals tryouts, they found a singer and played Andrew and Dan's party one summer. That was the high point for that band. They stopped talking to the singer and kept on writing and practacing. They all decided to have Phil come back and sing for the band because aparently Phil wrote lyrics to one of our songs and it sounded good. Soon, Dan and Shawn got into a heated argument and the band fell apart. Andrew kept incontact with Shawn and started jamming again, start over. At the time, Shawn was in a band with Phil. Andrew and Shawn talked about starting a band with phil using his songs, but change them up a bit to accomodate Andrew's bass parts. Everything clicked. The energy was great and they needed was a singer. At this time a band called Lost Cause recently broke up and the members we're looking for new faces to rock out with. They recruited Jay Peterson (vocals) and Mike Inman (guitars). They formed Throw Away Stranger. It wasn't soon before TAS started playing a few shows. After the third show, Jay got fed up with the direction the band was going and quit. Mike followed. It was then left with the original members, Shawn, Andrew and Phil. After thinking things over, they added Dan into the line up with some brand new songs. They practiced and formed the band which is now known as Kaleida. Still looking for a vocalist, Phil took on the role of lead vocals and the whole band discovered that Phil has an amazing voice. With sweeping vocals, complex metal/slap bass lines, odd time signatures, two guitar virtuosos, arabic influences, and menacing drums, Kaleida was soon to explode onto the music scene.
