Description:
GENESIS The band Benign was formed in Spokane, Washington in January of 2001. The sound of Benign may best be described as a fusion of progressive/hardcore/alternative metal, with influences ranging the full scope of the metal spectrum (Except Rap-core. We hate that shit).
ACCOLADES As of mid 2004, Benign has played many shows with bands such as Prozak Staple, Fly Real, Lucid, The Iron Maidens, 427, One from None (Rivet), Optumis Prime, Manifest, Seven Cycles, Distress, Clintch, Dead Face Down, The Necrofiliax, No Cover, IDK, Barely Burning, Psybon Trip, Melefluent, Mojo Scooter, Malfunction, The Khind, Blunt Trauma, Mynis and many others. Benign released their first 9-song self titled CD in 2002, and a 3-song limited release CD in 2003.
ACTIVITIES Currently, Benign is in talks with an independent record label working on a schedule for the release of their 2nd CD. Lots of shows are in the works for the coming year, as well. Stay posted!.

Band Members:
James "Nealbilly" Neal, our vocalist is from sunny California. His vocal style is mainly of the easy-to-understand-gutteral-yell sort, think Phil... Jason "The Plague" Vessar is hands-down one of the sickest guitar players in the Spokane area. His writing style is the primary influence behind Benign's music. Paul "Doctor" Schopfer rounds out the bottom end of this powerhouse with a pick/finger style that is all his own. Ed "EdZilla" Bedell brings structure to the often chaotic rythms of Benign with his straight-forward yet strangely offbeat playing style.
