Description:
Grand River Crossing is a blending of souls that has produced music considered by many to be unique...something that cannot be categorized easily. The members of this group have worked over the past three years to create something special for its audience. This has shown through during the band’s performances and has led to national recognition. GRC brings together three people with diverse influences while playing original rock and roll that blends edgy rifs and classic influences. The band consistently demonstrates outstanding musicianship and showcases surprising fullness in sound and quality.
Band Members:
Brad Carr - guitarist. Grew up in a big old house full of guitars, pianos, brass, woodwind, percussion, and other strange noises. Influenced by the sounds of classic rock and bluegrass ranging from Neil Young and Tom Petty to Alison Krauss. Brad is the founder of GRC. Jack Vanderflught - drums/percussion. Jack has played for a variety of bands of varying styles including country, rock and blues. Jacks drumming influences include: Joe Smyth, Alex Van Halen, Mark Herndon, Steve Smith, Mickey Curry, and his personal favorite, Cactus Moser. Jack is the youngest member of GRC. Dennis McElroy - bassist. Dennis has been playing bass for nearly 30 years. Dennis brings diverse experience to the band having played jazz with the Iowa State University jazz ensemble, ragtime on the Goldenrod riverboat in St. Louis and country, rock 'n roll, and contemporary christian music over the years with a variety of bands. Dennis' style has been influenced by such greats as Grand Funk's Mel Schacher, REO Speedwagon's Gregg Philbin and Dartanyan Brown of Chase.
