Description:
The Red House Blues Band combines the guitar and vocals of Eli Cook with the talents of bassist Steve Riggs and drummer Jason Ward. Cook, a Nelson County teenager, began his performance career playing acoustic blues at Repunzel's Coffee House in Lovingston when he was 15. His repertoire and audience expanded as he began playing gospel shows and revivals in several counties. He formed his first electric trio The Red House Blues Band, while only 16, and performed at the James River Blues Society Festival taking 3rd place in 2003 and 2nd place in 2004. Cook has been called a "blues phenomenon" by reviewers in nearby Charlottesville: "Featuring fast fingered guitar and a powerful voice beyond his years, Cook doesn't need any Robert Johnson style pact with the devil to take him to the top" (Matthew Hurst, from a C-ville review).

The rhythm section features drummer Jason Ward. Ward brings more than a decade of experience to the trio, having preformed with several Charlottesville bands including Uncle Remus, Cowgomoo & Neon Kings. Visit Jason's gear/bio page - here

Nationally renowned blues bassist Steve Riggs completes the trio. Steve is a veteran musician who has performed with some of the world's greatest including Muddy Waters and Jimmy Vaughan.

The Red House Blues band can currently be seen all around the state of Virginia with frequent appearances in Charlottesville, Farmville, Scottsville, and Roanoke.

MOONSHINE MOJO is the debut recording of Eli Cook and The Red House Blues Band. Recorded live in the studio, the tracks have been chosen to recapture the live shows performed at the notorious Dew Drop Inn in Scottsville, Virginia, the region's home of the blues in the heart of bluegrass country. MOONSHINE MOJO features radical renditions of classic blues hits like Muddy Water's MANNISH BOY, Hooker's HUCKLE UP, and Albert King's CROSSCUT SAW, as well as virtuoso guitar performances of Hendrix's LITTLE WING, and the little-known Jerry Reed two-step instrumental KICKY, previously recorded only by Chet Atkins. Crowd favorites for dancing include Bo Diddly's RIDE ON, JOSEPHINE, and Bruce Springsteen's PINK CADILLAC arranged for guitar, as well as two original guitar compositions by Eli Cook, EASY BOOGIE, AND SWEET ANITA.
