DAY OF LIONS began one quiet fall night in October of 2003. A few songs were scotch-taped and gluesticked together... melodies and harmonies that had haunted vocalist/guitarist Gena Gastaldi (formerly of The Roman Candles and See Danny) for months; finally arranged in a format fit for the picky ear of indie rockers everywhere. Though, at the time, she didn't imagine that these songs might take off and reach more listeners than her own North West neighbors. Her rhythm section made up of percussionist Aaron Edge (6-Minute Heartstop and The Horde) helped structure the emotion and build Gena's dreams into sturdy, little, dark mementos. DAY OF LIONS (a statement of victory) have made their mark. The group's tracks lead us first into the dark sea, to realize the fear of a lonely planet, cold and unforgiving. Gena swoons and hypnotizes the audience while Aaron caries them off into a frozen tundra of sadness, despair. Borrow the sensibility and simplicity of bands like Karate and add tthe power of Pedro... what you end up with is DAY OF LIONS. The band is on tour this June and July!!!
