Music types: Metal
Description:
ELCTRIKCHAIR is a dynamtic trio of insanely talented young musicians. ELCTRIKCHAIR is unique to the metal genre. Their music is melodic and sophisticated, unlike some modern genres that require only limited musical training, expensive electronic gagetry, computers, and a relatively simple array of chords [not always apparent to the naked ear]. ELCTRIKCHAIR utilizes complex arrangements impossible to accomplish without complete command of instrumental skills and intimate comprehension of music theory. ELCTRIKCHAIR plays carefully orchestrated and detailed compositions, incorporates warm and exciting European melodies, Satriani like guitar solos, powerful energy driven blast beats, sensational drum fills and perfectly timed Vic Firth influenced jazz/blues rudiments. Modern death/black metal vocals that may appear unpolished to some are genuinely appreciated in the death/black metal scene. Passionate delivery combined with a dark and strongly desired grunt/scream style [not easily duplicated] sets ELCTRIKCHAIR apart from the undesired mainstream sound massacre.

The orginal band idea was born March 2003 when the Rodriguez brothers decided they had a message for the world and the musical talent to deliver it.

At IRON MAIDEN'S recent Fiddler's Green Show, former lead vocalist, Chris Vigil, of Throcult tauted ELCTRIKCHAIR among his favorite up-and-coming metal bands.

In its brief but highly successful history, ELCTRIKCHAIR, has performed live with high local, regional and national bands. ELCTRIKCHAIR is on tour in the mid-west and will begin a national trek this summer.

ELCTRIKCHAIR OPINION:

Question, subject: Down Micing

What is it? Some unscrupulous music promoters, sound managers and record labels intentionally reduce sound and compromise sound quality with poor mixing in order to gain an unfair advantage that favors their local or member band. It usually happens to new bands that can't afford their own sound team. When asked how ELCTRIKCHAIR feels about down micing, their answer was as follows:

We know its done frequently, its been done to us, we are committed to exposing it at every opportunity. It's the ultimate music fraud and it cheats fans because they never know its happening. When we play with bands, we want them to be at their best because we anticipate being at our best. If someone likes another band more than ours, more power to them but micing any band down to create a sound illusion sucks. We will never tolerate or participate in micing down to give us an advantage we don't deserve. Our fans deserve the best and we intend to deliver it without deception.

Interview Question: What event or group first influenced you?

Answer [ANDY]: Oddly enough, I don't remember it because I was only three years old but my parents told me they took me to a LOS LOBOS concert in Colorado Springs and I was rocking out so much that the drummer noticed me and handed me his drum stick at the end of the show. My parents claim that's when they first noticed a change in me. Right on!

Interview Question: What differences have you noticed between Colorado venues and venues in other states?

[SIPP EC Promoter(s)] Colorado venues and promoters generally pay very little or nothing to their bands. Promoters and venues in other states consistently pay their bands well enough to enable the bands to cover their costs.

Interview Question: What's the lamest question you've been asked by music promoters?

[ANDY] Do you have a following? It's like asking a hot date if her parents have money? When they ask, I really want to ask them; are you sure you can afford us? We prefer venues that know how to promote their shows and don't mind making sure their bands expenses are covered which tells us our time, equipment, expenses and hard work are appreciated.

Interview Question: What's your opinion of the Denver music scene?

[SIPP EC Promoters] It has potential to be among the best in the country but its too fragmented. Many of the best live bands in the country complain to us that DENVER was a NO SHOW compared to other cities.

Band Inspirations: IRON MAIDEN, PANTERA, TESTAMENT, JOE SATRIANI, BLACK SABBOTH, BOSTON, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, KAMELOT, DEICIDE, MORBID ANGEL, RAMONES, EXPLOITED, SKID ROW, JACKEL, OVERKILL, MISFITS, VENOM, SLAYER, OBITUARY, TESLA AND CRADLE OF FILTH.

Band Members:
Representing six Colorado generations, brothers Andy "Jake" Rodriguez, [20] Lead Guitar and Robert "Bob" Rodriguez, [12] Drums shape the band's nucleous. Band family member, Eloy Fernandez, [17] Bass/Support Vocals completed the group in August 2003. The child of a first generation Mexican American family, Eloy was born in Los Angeles, CA and relocated to Colorado five years prior to joining ELCTRIKCHAIR.

Latest News:
Hey everybody. Elctrikchair has been busy getting ready to launch "Thrash Militia 2004. Our first show is at House of Rock in Northglenn.

We're looking forward to a great national tour. It looks like we'll be heading into the southwest. Wait til you hear who is on the bill. It's a surprise but keep an eye on our web site. It'll be posted soon.

We had a great show at Knickerbockers in Lincoln, NE. Thanks for coming down to support us. You guys rock. It's been a while since we've seen headbanging like headbanging is supposed to be.

We are happy to announce that we just launched a new theme. We feel this theme fits us better. Also, its a welcome break from the ho hum religious and mid-evil themes. We hope you like it. Let us know when you see us at our next show. Did we ever tell you that the mid-west is actually ahead of Colorado in appreciating metal. Unfortunately, some promoters in Denver still believe its Malboro Country.

We've been under a bit a attack lately, no big deal. It's our experience that when you're doing things right the attacks increase, nothing we can't handle. We just turn it all over to Bob. He selects our sacrifices to the Aztec Gods.

It's a good thing we've got the biggest, badest musician in our band, all they have to do is see Bob and they run like hell. It's really pretty amusing. We've never seen so many promoters, venue owners and potential fans so afraid of one band member before. Then again Bob keeps us in line too.

Well so much for the latest news. Please check our web site frequently. We want to see every one of your ug___, pret___ uh metalhead faces at our next show. Schools Out for Summer, Alice.
