Description:
With a sound as diverse as its culture, this Southern Louisiana based rock band has successfully captured the heart and soul of rock music. From the first blaring riff through the last melting chorus, you’ll feel this bands pure love of music. The soothing melodies and fist-pounding guitar riffs carry with them a flood of harmony and imagination. There influences stretch from all corners of the rock-n-roll world. From hard-rock, to blues, to psychedelic punk-rock, Delta Crutch is a true tribute to rock-n-roll.
Delta Crutch is a four-piece band, consisting of Brian Nosacka on rhythm guitar and vocals, Mike Ewing on lead guitar, Draper Bourgeois on bass guitar, and Royce Legg on drums. They began writing original music in the summer of 1999, out of their hometown of Gramercy, LA. To this day, local rock-n-roll fans of all ages flock to the stage and even the practice room just to catch a taste of the latest Delta Crutch creation. In the midst of a stagnating music scene, saturated with swamp-pop and cover-bands, this bands drive and love of music has helped build a more creative music culture for South Louisiana.
Delta Crutch has been electrifying crowds in clubs and live music venues all across the south for the past two years. It seems that on stage is home for these Louisiana natives. They have released a seven-song preview to their debut album, which is scheduled for release in the summer of 2004. The demo features seven original tracks, recorded at Festival Recording Studio in March of 2002. They are continuing to write music and are well on their way to completing the much anticipated, first full-length album. The demo is available on CD by mail or on-line at www.deltacrutch.com .
Band Members:
Brian T. Nosacka- vocals, rhythm guitar
Brian was raised to love music. Growing up in a small quiet town in South Louisiana, music surrounded him. His biggest influences in music lived right next to him--his grandpa and his dad. He learned the beauty of original music at a very early age. He would spend countless hours listening to every record and tape he could get his hands on. He most often wondered just how his grandpa and dad’s voices could be so different yet both so perfect. “I had to learn to play guitar…. I kept waking’ up with these tunes and songs in my head and I got tired of singing them without the music….”, he says. In the passing of one of his closest friends, he learned the value of individuality, hard work, and true friendship. Rest in peace, Jonny.
Draper Bourgeois- Bass Guitar
Draper was born and raised in Gramercy, LA. He experienced the beauty of rock’n’roll through his older brothers. He would later learn the tremendous influence music could have on a person’s life. He played the trumpet all through high school, and turned his garage into a rock’n’roll paradise, which would later become a home and an inspiration to Delta Crutch. Draper is one of the most outgoing and down to earth guys you’ll ever meet in the music business. In all actuality, Draper’s personality is one of the biggest influences on the music that is Delta Crutch. Rest in peace, Jonny.
Royce A. Legg- Drums
“In March of 1977, I spent my very first allowance on my first LP…Kiss Alive. Three weeks later…KC and the Sunshine Band. Since then music has always been the biggest part of my life. Beating pots on the kitchen floor at four years old is kinda cliché, but it’s the truth. Because of my limited resources, I didn’t get my first drum kit until we moved out of the trailer park. I beat the skins for a few friends but nothing ever materialized. So, I pawned my drums to throw the biggest keg party of the century. Ten years later, one of my best friends asked me to sit in on his younger brothers practice sessions and the rest will be ROCK-N-ROLL HISTORY. From KISS to Sabbath, from Rush to REO Speedwagon, and from Brother to 4MagNitrous--I love it, I play it, I am it!! There is nothing else I would rather be doing at this time in my life than playing in a rock band.”
Michael J. Ewing- Lead Guitar
At the age of fifteen, Mike figured out that playing guitar was exactly what he wanted to do….so that’s what he did. He picked up a cheap P.O.S. guitar from Wal-Mart and taught himself how to play. The first band that he really got into was Whitesnake. “I was young, so cut me some slack…”, Mike says. As his love of guitar grew, so did his love for great rock music. Bands like Metallica, Nirvana, Type O Negative filled a large portion of his album collection. “My biggest musical influences come from many different bands all at once, such as Slipknot, Dimmu Borgir, the Beatles, and many others.” Mike joined the band in April of 2003 after the tragic death of former lead guitarist Jonny Trosclair. “So far being in Delta Crutch has been the most fun I’ve ever had playing in a band….personally, my favorite part about music is playing live.”
