I feel better knowing that these guys are in the world doing their thing. What is their thing? The ingredients are a healthy dose of a Native American theme, a dash of humor, and a political agenda. The music that comes out of that is somehow really good stuff. I'll admit that they sound like U2 or The Cult but that doesn't make them a copy of those bands. They definitely have their own style. Their 'Patent Pending' album has plenty of different moods. There's energy from songs like 'Mary On The Dash', calming tones from songs like 'Sullen' and then you'll find a psychedelic hint to most of the rest of it. Check it out. The band elects not to patronize music fans by regurgitating the dismal themes so many bands of the nineties have opted to employ. Instead, ALM incorporates Smith's experiences being of Native American descent, with fun, upbeat rock and roll--garnished with a reminiscence of new wave...β January 17, 2000...β -Smartypants magazine
