Description:
blue number nine is what you'd get if Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull), Mick Jagger and George Clinton were on guy with a sex change who sounded like Rickie Lee Jones fronting a groovin' band with lots of Motown style vocal harmonies.

Band Members:
Formed in Jersey City in 1995, blue number nine is the brainchild of Stefanie Seskin (lead vocals/flute/alto sax/songwriter/producer/engineer), a former soccer jock who holds a Master’s in Communications and a 2001, 2002 & 2003 recipient of the ASCAPLU$ songwriter award from ASCAP in the Popular category. Minoru Kikuchi (guitar) is from Japan. Marco Accattatis (bass, back up vocals) is from Italy. Jack M. Gourdine II (drums) is an Army brat from Okinawa, and Sheila Connors, from Buffalo, NY, and Camari Frame, from Detriot, MI, belt out back up vocals while dancing in energetic synch. Together they are as one - mind, body and soul. The music is a blend of eclectic funk, jazz, pop and all manner of rhythm and groove and at times, they bring in horns and/or keyboards to fatten up the mix further. Seskin’s songs range in topics from political to empowering to just plain fun, but the grooves often inspiring dancing.

blue number nine is the first independent band ever to receive an endorsement from Ultimate Support, creators of guitar, speaker, microphone and other stands. In 2003, the group was invited to perform at NJPAC’s Sounds of the City, sponsored by Absolut Vodka. Drummer Jack Gourdine received an endorsement from Silver Fox Percussion in 2002. The band was invited two years in a row (2000 & 2001) to play the Levi’s First Stage at Jones Beach prior to the headliner, Chicago, and in 2000, the band was a finalist in the Sennheiser Evolution band contest. Since 2000, each year, the group donates their time preforming at the Northern New Jersey Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night walks. bn9’s third self-produced CD was released in June 2003; their debut release was in May 2000 and in October 2001, the band released a live CD . All can be purchased at their website, (designed by bandleader Seskin) at shows, or at all the major music retail stores online. Meantime, come see blue number nine! Get Funked!
