Band Members Graham Gisselquist Bass Brian Klaas Drums Andrew White Guitar, Lead Vocals
Biography Contention One initially formed to perform for three sold out shows of the band Pops! performance in February of 2003. Andrew and Brian are seniors at Hopkins High School, and Graham is a junior. Graham, Andrew, and Brian have accumulated a large and ever-growing fan base among high school and college students. Despite their age, Contention One’s ambitions have propelled them into a level of maturity, progress, and success unseen by virtually any band their age. Besides playing at other performances, and the aforementioned Pops! performance, fans have flocked to the Dunbar Drum Show and the Hopkins Depot Coffeehouse to see the band perform. In June, 2003, Contention One accomplished a task that few underage bands can claim to have met – recording an album. The self-titled album was recorded, produced, mixed, and mastered at Angel Beach Studios in Minneapolis. It contains eleven completely original compositions. The album is a small reflection of the style, maturity, and emotion that Contention One conveys through their music. Graham, Brian and Andrew harness their varying musical tastes and translate it into a unique alternative sound compared by some to “The Clash.” A second album is due for release in early 2004.
