Dakota Blue

Band Members:
Dakota Blue came together in Early April of 2003. Three of the members had previously played together in another local band. Aaron, who is a Joplin native, has been writing and playing guitar for just a few years, but has developed a style all his own. He considers himself as a vocalist turned singer/songwriter. On occasion, he’ll use his falsetto ability to accent songs in ways similar to ways of the lead guitarist. Simply referred to as “Action”, Jaxon strums leads that are nothing short of chilling. He came to the band with a blues background and you can definitely feel that classic warm, but edgy feel every time he plays his axe. Curtis, who is statistically above the rest, is the man that lays the foundation for Dakota Blue. His style is construed of influences from 80’s metal to today’s more modern styles such as Incubus and Dave. He has played with many different acts, performing in front of thousands. Curtis joined the band in early April of 2003 and has contributed to just more than what was expected. He and “Action” both contribute to the vocal mix of the group. The percussion section is headed by Justen, who had been in music with Aaron for a number of years. His main style is Jazz and is reflected in his tremendous dynamic ability. Sean joined the band in early 2003 and has contributed to the overall presence of Dakota Blue. His ability to accent at the right moment brings out the small parts that remain to be heard. He loves all styles of music and has been involved with other area bands before joining Dakota Blue.

The band has recently been involved in the Festival of the Four States in Joplin, MO and also played at the 4th of July Festival, also in the local area. They look to continue the success that has been achieved, so plan on seeing them soon!
