Bill Keen lead guitarist
Bill Keen began playing the guitar and singing when he was only 10 years of age. He taught himself to play and has never had a lesson. His musical inspiration is Elvis Presley. Before Elvis was famous, Bill was lucky enough to shake hands with him. In 1981, Bill Keen's daughter, Gail Brake, talked him into playing gospel music. He then taught his daughter Gail, and wife Brenda, to play the guitar. They then formed The Keen Family Gospel Singers. Mr. Keen has written over 50 gospel songs. The Keen Family Gospel Singers traveled to and played at rest homes, churches, and prison camps. They played from 1981 to 1992. Bill then stopped playing the guitar all together. He didn't touch his instrument for 10 years. 16 years later, The Keen Family Singers were formed.
Gail Brake bass player
Gail Brake is the daughter of lead guitarist Bill Keen. Gail was musically inspired by her father. She started singing, and learned to play the guitar at the age of 12. Gail was taught by her father. Mrs. Brake played with The Keen Family Gospel Singers, along side her mother and father from 1981 to 1987. She later taught herself to play the bass guitar. In 2008, she joined The Keen Family Singers.
Amy Hatchel saxophonist
After two generations of musicians, Amy was bound to be involved in music. She was first interested in music when she joined her middle school band at the age of 12. She learned to play the flute, and continued playing throughout middle school and high school. Amy later taught herself to play the alto saxophone. She has never had a saxophone lesson. Amy also sings and plays the keyboard. In 2008, Amy joined her mother and grandfather in The Keen Family Singers.
