DARE to Battle! 2010

Six of the best young bands in Wisconsin will face off during the first annual DARE to Battle! event at the Leach Amphitheater in Downtown Oshkosh. The event begins at 4pm, Saturday, September 18, 2010, and you can help determine the winner – You’ll want to be there to vote!

The bands — whose members are between 13 to 24 years old — were selected as the cream of the crop out of 18 entries from throughout the state of Wisconsin. Judging will be done by a panel of professionals which include music experts and people who influence the local and professional music scene. Judges’ scores plus percentage of audience vote determine the winner.

The winning band will be invited back to perform for an international crowds of thousands at EAA AirVenture 2011 and also Sawdust Days 2011, and will be Officially Declared “Best Up and Coming Band” by the Oshkosh – Winnebago County D.A.R.E. Advisory Board. Other prizes include cash, gift cards, photos and video recording of event day, an in-depth interview audio podcast to be posted on the DARE to Battle! 2010 website, tons of free buzz on Facebook, and more!

There are also tons of giveaways and prizes for the audience to win!

This is a perfect time to enjoy music under the open sky, mingle with your friends, and take pleasure in some great performances! Family Friendly, alcohol and tobacco free, for people of all ages! Bring your blanket or chair for when you want to get comfortable, enjoy some fantastic concessions from local restaurants, participate and win prizes at our action booths, and most importantly, VOTE to help select the winning band!

Admission is $2 and includes one free vote! Additional votes can be purchased at the rate of 3/$1. You can vote more than once, as often as you would like—for the same band or multiple bands. About DARE to Battle!2010

Our first annual DARE to Battle! event, a public Battle of the Bands, open to young musicians ages 13 to 24, will be held Saturday, September 18, 2010. It has been conceived as a way for music lovers of all ages to have fun, participate in the competition where judging and audience voting components combine to determine the winner, and win prizes; while raising money and awareness for a worthy Winnebago County nonprofit organization. The event also seeks to raise the profile of the Leach Amphitheater, Oshkosh, and Winnebago County as an energetic, creative, music event and festival capital.

This inaugural DARE to Battle! event will benefit our community by supporting Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) in our schools. D.A.R.E. is a free officer-led classroom training that teaches students how to make good decisions about alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs. Officers work with students, providing them with meaningful strategies to say, “No,” to their peers and to other influences and temptations –helping us all, and especially our youth, avoid the results of bad decisions. Collectively, we can make a difference! # # #
