THE COUCH RETURNS TO THE LAVA LOUNGE Dreamed up by Los Angeles based artist managers with the idea to replace the same old tired format of rock and roll live shows with an unconventional house party comfort, The Couch is an eclectic showcase of music's best past, present, and future talent presented in a small, intimate venue with a relaxed, music savvy vibe. "I remember what it was like to see The Mother Hips and Mary's Danish play in people's living rooms in college. That's what I want to bring back to live music." said Tom Vaughan, one of the two principals behind The Couch. The other, Graham Kurzner, said "There was a time when at the end of a night I'd find myself back at my house with friends rummaging through my vinyl collection, playing the most random songs on the turntables. That's what I want; I want my friends to come out and DJ." But this is no ordinary party. The attention and care taken in selecting artists for The Couch is unmatched. "We don't care about name, draw, or gimmick. Only that the artists remind me why I love music so much." says Graham Kurzner. "We spend so much time on the artist selection; it's a labor of love. If were just about booking another predicable night of music in Hollywood, then you couldn't pay me to do it. It’s based in solely in the music and creating a vibe. I want to juxtapose even legendary jazz or avant-garde musicians with today’s up and comers and eventually visual artists joining in and displaying their work as well. From art on the walls to videos on our living room TV’s placed around the club." And so with this, The Couch was born. More info & updates: www.luckiepierre.com/thecouch.htm
