Skyward

When they got home, they decided to try and start pursuing the idea of a band with more intentionality. The newly formed band recruited Jonathan (Vocals/Piano/Synth) to round out the lineup, and along with his musical skills, he also brought the name Skyward.

Right away the band simultaneously signed up for a battle of the bands and realized that if they wanted to have any sort of recording ready by the summer they would need to start immediately. After a couple marathon practices they were ready for the battle and the recording. A battle of the bands victory under their belt, Skyward then recruited the help of Chad Altenberger at Erff Studios (also the lead guitarist of popular Harrisonburg band The Beautiful Refrain) and began recording at the beginning of March ‘12.

With lyrics Spencer describes as “honest answers to life’s pivotal questions,” Skyward wants to write and perform music that is memorable and engages all audiences to search out their purpose and discover where their worth is found.

Skyward spent the last year traveling to churches, retreats and other venues growing their fan base and spreading their music and message. Now armed with their first EP “The Launch,” (available on iTunes) and having added Caleb (Drums), Jordan explains that Skyward "is looking to bring their particular blend of melody-driven rock to all kinds of people in all kinds of places."
