Description:
A two year hiatus from the music scene has seen The Father, J. O'Brien's return to the San Francisco stage with a sound that has been described as everything from indie rock to folk and blues, putting to music the images of big city nights after the bars have turned off all their neon signs, just before the light of a new day. There is a beauty in the darkness of his songs that few have been able to capture. His almost silent whispers to his growling screams with a boot stomping fever, compounded by the stark contrasts in ambience and tempo command the attention of a live audience, forcing them to hang on his words, trapping them in the images he paints. Moments where the moon is the only light beyond the skyscrapers and a barstool with change in your pocket is all you need. It's a bittersweet dream, and he invites you to live it as he does, through his music. The music of The Father, J. O'Brien.
Band Members:
J. O'Brien now resides in San Francisco, CA after a stint in San Diego playing with Spanish Bombs. Originally from Santa Cruz, CA his musical influence draws as much from the broken wharfs of his hometown as from the city skyline. His grade school teachers thought he was cool and his mother thinks very highly of him as well.
