Description:
Alfred Sheppard, Jr is a truly gifted 14 year old "Child Prodigy" who is currently majoring in Piano as a ninth grader at Howard W. Blake High School for the Performing Arts in Tampa, Fl. First, he is an exceptional pianist; however, his talent does not stop there. He plays all percussion instruments, and his performances on the xylophone are pure magic. Alfred's gift does not stop at playing his instruments. He is an accomplished composer who has won several awards for his original composition "Hurricane Hero" which was played by his Middle School Band. Alfred has participated in all of the All County and All State events held for the top musicians in this area always receiving Superior Ratings. His understanding of all instruments, their ranges and what they can do, is phenomenal and contributes to his excellent compositions. Alfred is also the faithful musician for his church, Holy Tabernacle Baptist Church (home.earthlink.net/~holytabernacle). Alfred founded N-Version, a teen jazz band, in March of 2003 to play for his church's Evangelistic Block Party. Since then, his band has performed in many venues; MOSI, Good Day Tampa Bay, MLK Celebrations, The Florida State Fair, Rehabilitation and Nursing Centers and many more. In 2005, N-Version released their first CD "No Worries". N-Version has gone through several changes, but Alfred remains steadfast in his determination to realize his dream of having an accomplished Jazz Band. His compositions, arrangements and direction result in quality music played at a level that makes you forget they are teenagers!
