Description:
Parts Unknown's sound has its roots in captivating harmonic and lyrical interplay, syncopated rhythms, and naturally crafted, hook-laden tunes. Through their influences, experiences, and by relying on each other, Parts Unknown has been able to create a musical environment that is distinct and diverse, yet accessible and addictive. Enthusiasm is contagious-- that is what brings Parts Unknown together. Although the band’s origin was out of Grand Rapids, Michigan, the band members were born all over the country. Lead guitarist John Nesbit came from Southern Arkansas with original guitar licks heard by few in the industry. Bass player, song writer, and native Michigander Patrick finds comfort in the original time signature changes and difficult syncopation found in Parts Unknown’s music. Never knowing what comes next is what drummer Matt, also a native Michigander, is famous for. Matt's unique rhythm is capturing to the ear without sacrificing the integrity of the baseline ideal of the song. Native Texan and lead singer Jeff Troutman spices up the music with his funky Southern drawl, which is evident only when listened for, but the subtlety certainly adds flavor. Hi I'm Jeff. Growing up around music my whole life it just seemed to be the natural thing to do. I got a real job for a while and then I decided it wasn't for me. Although people in the corporate world are very important and are needed in order to make this world go round it was not for me. I was horrible at it! I left my job and thought I would try music. Hey, I'm young, and single, and thought I would do something crazy. I packed my guitars and keyboard and left my home in Dallas to come all the way up west to Michigan. Here I started playing at a local church and met a few cats who could wail. That is when Parts Unknown was birthed. I love my life right now we are at an exciting place as a band and I am at an exciting place personally. There are a few things I would change however. Number one would be my hair (I absolutely hate it) and number two would be the Michigan winters. Sometimes I wonder if they will go on forever and if they did would anyone really notice? Overall my time here in Michigan has been great. Some of my influences are Dave Matthews, Charlie Hunter, Sting and just about everyone. You never know what you are going to hear when you get into my car.

Bass player - Patrick Konieczny.... 17 patrick@partsmusic.com Hey, my name's Patrick. I'm the bass player for this new band... It's interesting how it all came about that I am playing with Parts Unknown because I was kind of a shy kid. I never would have seen myself where I am today. When I was about 8 years old, I started piano lessons. I was in all sorts of recitals, and competitions, and the works, but eventually that all grew tired. Music has always been a passion of mine, but as I grew older, I didn't really enjoy playing inside the box, and off music sheets, and all that. It's definitely cool to be able to do that, but what I really wanted, was to play my own music; My own style. I've gone through tons of teachers, and I still can't learn enough. As my last teacher helped me learn how to play more off of chords and hearing ability than what I read on a sheet, my cousin picked up a cheap, electric guitar that he decided to sell after a while. This was the turning point, in a sense. I jumped at it, and slowly began to pick up on rythem and tones. The funny thing is; I learned how to play bass on the guitar before I actually learned that instrument. So... along with bass, I can also play keys, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, and a little drums (which I'm just now moving into). I started playing once in a while with the different guys from Parts Unknown, and we all just seemed to click. Switching from instrument to instrument, we finally found a comfortable pocket where everything just fell together; that being: me on bass, Matt on drums, John on electric, and Jeff as lead. We do our best to play to the BEST of our abilities, and we're continually learning. I learn something new about these guys everytime I play with them, and I love it! I definitely proclaim to be a Christian, but I won't force it down any one's throat. I hope that people will listen to our music because of our style, not because of who we are, and I'm totally stoked to see how the world reacts to "Parts Unknown."

I took up the drums at age 11, but I didn't really start to pursue playing until I was fourteen." "I've been around music pretty much my whole life, and the only other people that play an instrument in my family are my mom and my sister. My biggest musical influence is Dave Matthews Band because of their originality. Some other influences would be Jars of Clay, Goo Goo Dolls and Eric Clapton. I pretty much have an appreciation for ever type of music, although I don't listen to all styles of music. I really enjoy jazz, hip-hop and anything with a jacked up beat. I usually find it monotonous to play a straight beat, but if I feel that the song is too muddy, I will keep it pretty simple.
Jeff Troutman is a born and raised Texan who plays acoustic guitar while also carrying the lead vocals. John Nesbit is the electric guitarist from Arkansas. He just likes to sit in the pocket. Our bass player Patrick Konieczny is a native Michigander who is influenced a lot by players like victor wooten. The drummer, Matt Albrecht, is also a native Michigander who plays after drummers like Carter from Dave Matthew's Band; He's completely outside the box.
