The Montgomerys are something to behold; ripe with passion, sexual frustration, and, most of all, total mental rejection of the state of current society. They make music that is pleasing to the human ear. |

Music types:
Alternative, Country
Description:
Existing somewhere between “Sweetheart of the Rodeo” and the Elephant Six psychedelic revival are the Montgomerys, an eight-piece folk-rock band from Little Kentucky, New Jersey. Pedal steel, accordian, piano, bass, drums, guitars, and harmony vocals combine to create a sound that Gram Parsons’ fans might call “Cosmic American Music”. The Montgomerys have four interesting songwriters, each with his own recognizable style. All of the members have worked together for years in various projects, and have now come together as a whole to play the music they enjoy most. The Montgomerys have many influences, chief among them are probably Pavement, Gram Parsons, Dylan, Hank Sr., Will Oldham, and the Beatles. It is with this music in mind that the Montgomerys try to create a meaningful sound in a time when popular music seems so anemic.
