Description:
The band that has become known as Dirtfedd started when guitarist, Cameron Ruble, met vocalist, Dustin Travels through a mutual friend. The two had a similar musical vision and hit it off immediately. Attempts at starting a band proved fruitless, but the two continued jamming together. One day while surfing a local music website (www.slamomaha.com), Cameron came across a post from drummer, Brock Wettstead, who had recently left a band that was popular around the Lincoln area. In the post, Brock said he wanted to do something dark, heavy, energetic, and most of all, original. This was exactly what Cameron and Dustin were looking for. Cameron e-mailed Brock without a thought. They corresponded for a week before getting together for a jam session. Having just come from a bad band experience, Brock was auditioning Cameron and Dustin just as much as they were auditioning him. The musical chemistry was instant and undeniable. From the ashes of his previous band, Brock introduced the others to guitarist, Eric Marshall, who instantly brought a dynamic approach that they wouldn't otherwise have had. Their musical chemistry was so balanced, in April of 2002, the core of Dirtfedd was formed. The band was not yet complete. A bass player was needed who could add more talent to the band. Within a couple of weeks, they came across bassist, Will Holmes. His addition brought the band to a new plane. For several months, the band practiced and played several gigs throughout the Omaha/Lincoln, Nebraska area. In April of 2003, Jeff Goff was added to the band as a percussionist to give the rhythm section a more tribal approach. A few weeks later, bassist Will Holmes left the band to pursue possible careers with another band. His departure enabled Joe Fowler, a work acquaintance of Cameron's, to join the band. With his talents on the bass guitar and outrageous performance abilities, Dirtfedd’s popularity grew rapidly. Since then, Dirtfedd has shared the stage with national touring metal acts such as Lamb of God, Unearth, and God Forbid. They have also received praise from national acts such as Mushroomhead and Dope. The musical style of Dirtfedd is a collaboration of jazz, blues, punk, southern rock, hardcore, and metal.
With an extremely high energy delivery and stage performance, the sound conjured can only be described in one word: Dirtfedd.
