Dave was born and raised in the southeastern United States. Since receiving his first guitar at age 14, he has relentlessly pursued music with a passion second to none. When old enough to venture into those mysterious, dark, windowless establishments known as "Clubs", his music career really began to accelerate. Dave was called upon regularly at many clubs, which paved the way for him musically for what was to come. He developed numerous contacts and performed on stage with some of the areas’ best bands. That's when everything changed... it became real for him during that time and he's never lost the passion for performing and writing music. Over the years, Dave has played in numerous cover and original bands around the country and spent countless hours in recording studios. His first original music project was recorded in the late 1980's. The first single to air from this project was a song called "Magic Land", and then a second track called "Heroes" became a local favorite of many radio listeners. When asked about the secret of “Heroes” longevity, Dave said, “For many of us, ‘Heroes’ has a certain magic about it that will simply never die. Face it, heroes are born everyday and who doesn’t have a hero?” A few years after its release, Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer had taken an interest in "Heroes". They were planning a sequel to "Days of Thunder" and felt that "Heroes" would be a great song addition for the soundtrack. However, the film was never produced, which changed the fate of that song. Dave plans to put that song on the market in 2009. Dave has had other songs that have earned him recognition in his local radio market including "People on the Streets", “Tell Me” and “The River”. Subsequent live performances on television and radio soon followed. In late 2007, Dave began writing the songs for his new blues CD "Glide", which is available to purchase at www.davidranes.com
