Description:
Adopted Prophets is... Justin Stephenson (Drums,Vocals,Sequencer) Brandon McQuaide (Bass,Vocals) , Dustin Nichols (Guitars,Vocals,Synth,Harmonica,Turntable)

The band started in December of 2004 in a crowded, dirty, smoke filled dining room, surrounded by well beaten instruments and empty beer bottles, in a rat infested bachelor pad in San Diego, Ca. They met in the late nineties, have all been musicians and songwriters for over ten years and together have written and collaborated on almost a hundred songs. Over the last five years the three have been writing and performing together, as well as with several other artists in SoCal (Nickel Project, members of Vegitation and Abel Minded Poets, Comfortable Creeps, K23 Orchestra). Since then Adopted Prophets have evolved, refined and transformed their music into an original sound blending all styles of the underground music movement. And in seven months have played a festival in Dulzura, Ca and several shows at various venues in town such as Shamrocks, Waterfront and Blind Melons to name a few.

Adopted Prophets write original songs and create unique versions of a wide variety of covers. Each show is based on structured improv and medleys of the original songs, expanding into long jams, dynamic changes and spontaneous lyrical freestyle's. The band is sure to surprise any listener with a melting pot of raw organic underground improvisations, sequenced beats, synthesizers, Drums, Bass, Guitars and a wide range of vocal styles that go from straight Hip Hop MC to strong melodies sung from deep in the Soul.

With sounds similar to Sage Francis, Bright Eyes, Xavier Rudd, Flaming Lips, Keller Williams, Michael Franti and many, many more. Mixed with influences from bands like Grateful Dead, Talking Heads, MMW, Paul Simon, Bob Dylan, Charlie Hunter, Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey, Atmosphere, Tribe Called Quest, Common, Miles Davis, Yusef Lateef, Sublime, Police, Eric Clapton, Bob Marley. Adopted Prophets seamlessly span the musical gap throughout their sets.

The name Adopted Prophets comes from the bands love for the Sages, Teachers and Healers who have expanded minds and help us all remember our Souls path. AP spreads their expression of divine creation through music with songs of spiritual struggle, love, peaceful resolutions and paradigm shifts. Most importantly Adopted Prophets play music for the freaky people and crucial ragers of the world. Peace to all the free thinkers, open minds, musicians, artists, writers, lovers, holistic healers, non-violent activist, vegans, vegetarians, struggling carnivores , organic farmers, parents, workers, teachers, and students in the game of life.

Please be aware of any Hippy Hoppers, Emo Rockers, Old School Ragers, Surfer Dudes, Heshers, Stoner's, Straight Edgers, Computers Nerds, Jockos, Freaks and Wierdos that may be wandering around at an Adopted Prophets show.

Don't say we didn't warn y'all...
