Description:
This is a review from our friend Kim. It pretty much sums it up.
"They play a thrash-based, headbanger-friendly style of metal reminiscent of Pantera and Machine Head, a potent sound that draws the listener in and threatens to snap the necks of its most loyal fans when the riffs start coming and 'Master Jamison' starts drumming. Adder was definitely the most unabashedly METAL band on the bill - no breakdowns, no whining, no eyeliner, just pure thrashing-mad metal. In a "scene" dominated by trendy soundalikes who care more about how their hair looks and if their pants constrict their balls correctly than about making great heavy music, Adder stands out as a band who truly cares about the music and has enough skill to justify themselves to anyone. Anyways, back to the show! They played six songs, three of which are available on their demo (Get the Lead Out, Ruiner, and Wear the Mark), the other three being newer tunes. Each member brings something entirely unique to the mighty beast that is Adder, from Jamison's furious drumming to Dan's insanely skilled fretboard-wrangling to the powerful grooves of Dave's bass to Ron's commanding growl as he stalks the (metaphorical) stage. As the girlfriend of an ex-band member, I've been around this band since the beginning, and have seen them grow and improve and come together as a single cohesive killing machine that threatens greatness. My extolling their virtues so vehemently may seem like "oh, she's just trying to make them look good 'cause she's friends with them" but really, that's not the case. This band is the first local band that I've ever actually cared about enough to promote, and since I've seen pretty much every band this area has to offer, that's saying something. Adder is the real deal, and you owe it to yourself to check them out. When you can go to a show and headbang like it's 1986, you just know that something wonderful is happening, so "RAISE YOUR FIST!"
After many changes our current lineup solidified in January 2005. We've been doing shows since April 2005 and we have a three song demo out. It's free until we press it.
