Description:
Our name is Gorky and we've been recording and performing together since 2002. The most accurate description of our music that we've been able to come up with is 'indie post-punk'. We've recorded about twenty demos, some more than once or twice, and since summer of last year have been weeding out the best songs for a full-length album which we plan on recording in a professional studio with a producer. We incorporate many different styles of music into our playing, but right now our focus is on more of a defined sound. We draw on many different influences, just to name a few: The Strokes, Weezer, Pedro The Lion, Taking Back Sunday, The Libertines, The Hives, The Used, My Chemical Romance, Franz Ferdinand, Modest Mouse, Smashing Pumpkins, Prince, Dave Grohl, Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, Sparta.
Band Members:
There are four of us: Geronimo Valencia (lead vocals/lead guitarist), Ben Holladay (drums, vocals), Gregg Aldridge (bass/vocals), and Christopher Christiansen (rhythm guitar/vocals). We all went to high school together and have been writing music together collectively for nearly three years.
