Description:
Pitfunk began as a power trio in the early nineties consisting of Anand Funk on bass, Patrick Weaver on guitar, and Eric Lim on drums. Their major influences (all who were in their heyday at the time) included White Zombie, Primus, Rage Against the Machine, Korn, and The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Drawing from those collective styles, they created a hybrid of metal, punk, and funk. Over the next few years, Pitfunk developed a healthy repertoire of material, but personal issues and college forced the band to separate. After completing their studies and putting their pasts behind them, they reunited and sought out what would define their sound. They agreed that experimenting with the addition of a second bass player would not only be unique, but presented interesting and rarely heard possibilities with regard to depth, texture, and harmony. Pitfunk worked with several bass players until they found Jonathan Clark. He was able to develop chemistry with everyone despite the difficulty of having to create independent bass lines in established songs. Also contributing heavily with composition and orchestration, he quickly became a welcome member of the band and raised the overall level of creativity and talent. With an EP under their belt (“Business As Usual”, self-released Sep 2005) as well as an ever growing collection of songs, Pitfunk seeks to revitalize the currently mediocre music scene. Combing a raw, energetic presence with a fresh, technical performance, they intend to keep both young audiences entertained and aficionados satisfied.
