Description:
NovuS is a hard hitting, yet soft to the touch sound that cannot be described by simply uttering a popular band's name. Dave Temple pierces the air with atom-splitting power behind the drum kit. Dave Horton, the lead vocalist and only guitar player, purrs haunting melodies over a smooth guitar, then pounds out high-voltage vocals reminiscent of Plant, Geddy Lee, and Jeff Buckley. Just then the bass player Chris Goodin flips on two or more of 7 effects pedals that more than make up for the missing guitar and deliver television-smashing distortion right to your ears. Got the picture?
NovuS has been out and about since January of 2004, and has since hit local venues in its native Northern Virginia at such venues as TT Reynold’s, Jaxx, and The State Theatre. NovuS has taken the stage with some of the most sought after bands in the Northern Virginia area, such as Rude Buddha, Chrysalis, Madison Apart, Common Effect, Urban Style, Ethix, Bleed, Human Room, and the Mod Flanders Conspiracy, as well as some national touring acts such as Tub Ring and A Perfect Kiss.
NovuS produces, mixes, and masters all of its recorded material in a studio owned by the band, and practices in the same space. They are currently in recording sessions for a full length album due out in Spring 2005, and are looking to book about 50 dates from March to August of 2005 in cities throughout the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States.
Band Members:
Dave Horton - Lead vocal, and the only guitar. Dave is influenced by an eclectic array of music that ranges from Jeff Buckley, to Aphex Twin, to Ludwig Van Beethoven. He also enjoys making six figures in his spare time, and also plays the drums.
Chris Goodin - Bass player. Chris is influenced heavily by Tool, A Perfect Circle, and Led Zeppelin. His favorite thing to do is play the bass guitar.
Dave Temple - Drummer. Dave hits the drums so hard that it really actually hurts sometimes. It hurts drums and people, and cymbals, and sticks, and people. He enjoys a quiet life with his wife and children in his spare time, and also plays guitar.
