Description:
United by a love of music, this band upholds the spirit of metal. Elboeye blast with sound and vigor, leaving nothing but a rapt audience with ringing ears. With a year of performing on local stages, Elboeye have established themselves as a band with explosive energy and a f--k-you-up attitude.

Band Members:
Comprised of four members, each driven by a desire to make music as fervent and intense as their passion for music, Elboeye is band that captures the searing and hard-hitting spirit of metal. After a year of bombarding local stages with their torrential live show, Elboeye has generated a fanatical fan base of self-proclaimed “Elbo-ites.” On stage, Elboeye is a flood of sound and energy, leaving nothing in their wake but a rapt audience with ringing ears. The band began late in September of 2000 with the Mysterious Asshole, known commonly as Mysterious, on guitar and Drew Mendez on bass, throwing together riffs and jamming cover tunes in a basement. Their similar tastes and aggressive playing styles meshed well, and soon they were in search of other metal-oriented musicians to complete the picture. After posting ads in local music stores and auditioning several drummers, the pair received a phone call from a, then unknown, Mike Carlson. Hailing from Florida, Carlson is a veteran of the metal scene, having spent six years as a drummer for Gruela. After an initial, late-night meeting, the band gathered at their rehearsal room with Carlson to test for possibilities. He proved the most promising, by far, of the candidates. “This mother fucker was playing the other drummers kit, and put his foot right through the kick drum head. Right then I knew he was the drummer for Elboeye,” says Mysterious on the matter. Having found a drummer to exceed all expectations the band was still in search of a vocalist. Word began to spread in the loose social circles of the area about the potent new element in the band’s already forceful combination, catching the attention of an experienced rap-core DJ and vocalist, Parker Anderson. Anderson sat in on a practice session one evening. The band was trying out a new singer, whose affinity for drinking was perhaps worse than his vocal abilities. In Anderson’s own words, “My first thought was, ‘That singer needs to drink a little more and maybe he could be considered O.k. on account of intoxication, or maybe I need to be drunk to enjoy it.” The present vocalist aside, Anderson was impressed by the band’s sound. One evening while their trial singer was absent, Anderson took the microphone for a rehearsal. Soon after he became the official vocalist for the band. With a full band, then nameless, the four began to tighten up, each musician finding his place in the mix. Over time, Anderson matured in his position, in his words, “I was the vocalist for Elboeye. Along the way I had to create a new voice for this band. I wasn’t rapping anymore. I invented the “scrum,” my trademark vocal sound.” The band began writing the precursors to the songs now in their normal set list. After a period of writing and arduous practice sessions, the band hit an impasse. Although they were performance ready, and more than eager, they had not managed to settle on a name. The answer came in the form of visitor to a band practice, who, having burnt himself out on designer drugs, enthusiastically exclaimed that the music sounded like “some elbow eye shit.” To date, no one is sure what he meant by the statement, but the phrase struck a chord with the band, who adopted it as their name. The band, now known as Elboeye, began doing shows around town. Eventually becoming a regular fixture at The Outer Limits, Elboeye became known for their incredible live energy. Despite a potential for less aggressive music, Anderson comments, “we prefer an ass-kicking and good-times atmosphere. Our crunchy, fast-paced riffs and mosh-pit-inducing rhythms assault the crowd.” An ambience generated by the assiduous head-banging of Mendez, combined with the tireless speed and flare of Carlson’s drumming, accentuated by Mysterious’s violent playing, and occasional jaunt from the stage to the mosh pit--mid-song. Helming the experience is Anderson, present both in gritty, poignant vocals and enlivening stage presence. Their energy is not unlike a fever spread through the reverberating air, infecting the crowds they perform to and occasionally with. From their first show, where, as Mysterious comments, “We rocked the house, people were punching and running around in circles and shit. It was great…I knew if we could make people that buck, we need to get good at this shit and kick ass.” Elboeye are no egocentric rock stars, preferring to be as much a part of the crowd as they are stage performers. In well over a year of performing both in Nashville and Murfreesboro, Elboeye have established themselves as a band with explosive energy and f—k-you-up attitude.
