Description:
Fat, funky bass lines, crying guitars, syncopated rhythms, and soulful vocals erupt from the stage at a Stacks Getaway show. The crowd throws up its hands and grooves in unison; they cannot help but feel the vibe as they bounce almost unconsciously to the infectious melodies. As the set nears an end, the band sweats and smiles, knowing it has won over yet another sea of ears previously unexposed to the Stacks Getaway sound.
Influenced by artists such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pearl Jam, The Roots, Soundgarden, Jane’s Addiction, and Led Zeppelin, each member provides his own musical style to produce a collage of sounds that pleases the untrained ear, yet boasts musical integrity. Having independently released the funk-fused King Street Sessions in 2003, the band has just released its second EP, entitled There It Goes.
Band Members:
Guitarists Adam Brown and Zach Miller and bassist Brad Stirling built a solid musical foundation by jamming and recording for months in 2002 before enlisting the powerful voice of Mike Mostert. Mostert journeyed from Kansas to Seattle, WA to benefit from its notorious music scene before settling in Bellingham, where he found this group of musicians in their early 20s with the same outlook, musical ideas, and dedication that he had. Stacks Getaway was born. The November 2003 addition of experienced local drummer Justin Richison has strengthened their sound with powerful, driving beats. After crafting a new sound and set, the band has been consistently gigging around Bellingham and Seattle. They also made it to the Wild Card Semifinals of 92.9 KISM Band Slam V this year.
