Until we Wake

Until We Wake comes from nowhere. With a sound at once dizzyingly forward thinking and hauntingly familiar, Until We Wake makes the categorization process a blind lottery. Musically restless and patently dissatisfied with “radio” rock’s status quo, the band gleefully defies preexisting genres while seriously and masterfully encapsulating its own. On their forthcoming release, "Europa", the band charts new sonic territory, finding the uncomfortable niche between bystander-friendly riff rock/pop and brain-addling math metal (With half a Sweet Tart worth of R&B and Drum and Bass thrown in the stew for good measure). The band sets up shop in the borderlands, and throws rocks at everyone.

With sharp, massive guitar hooks and liquid noisescapes the listener is lured into an unbalancing realm of unpredictable rhythmic schemes, new tempo territories and nontraditional song structures. With their roots firmly in modern guitar driven rock, the false comfort of the genre becomes an enticing pull into the unknown and unseen. As much at home with the psychotic calculus-meets-metal pummeling on songs like "Hyena" and “Umbilical” as the opium fueled R&B nightmare of "Black Water", the band's diverse approach to composition and performance has earned them kudos from scenesters and critics alike.

On a meteoric rise since they played their first handful of gigs, the band has gone from single digit audiences to crowds in the hundreds in mere months, packing audiences into the largest local venues. The last year has seen them headlining and supporting regionally, opening for national headliners ‘Dope’, and recording at the world famous Blasting Room (ALL, Descendents, Open:Hand). They are first and foremost a live band: electrifying crowds with a raw, honest, explosive stage show that has been called "jaw dropping" and "not to be missed" in local press. Heavy. Strange. Accessible. Alarming. Until We Wake is making new music. Rock.

Until We Wake is pleased to present Europa, our first full length recording. This LP represents a year of growth for a band that set out to write a few good rock tunes and failed, producing instead some of the strangest and most challenging music any of us thought we would ever play. These songs are about loss, habit, politics, broken relationships, winter, isolation, rage, subterranean deities, and cryptolinguistics. We hope you enjoy them.

Europa is the ice covered moon of Jupiter. It recieves little light. It has a metal core. Far below its brittle surface, miles deep, there may be life. There is a light at the end of your metaphorical tunnel.
