ARTIST BIO: Cory Jermaine Thomas now a self-contained artist known as BEACE aka BEACE dah StairMaster aka Nathaniel Turner aka INSURGENT was born a seventy's baby (1970's) in Pontiac, MI. The product of a sturdy single parent home headed by his mother; no guidance would be provided by his physically and spiritually absent father. Taught the wisdom of the ages by his mother, BEACE writes and performs the knowledge born to him by listening, reading, meditating, and day–to-day life experience with a keen eye for what goes on beneath the surface. While incarcerated in the fall of 1998 (18 months for manufacturing & distributing crack cocaine) BEACE spent most of his time studying man’s various forms of religion. Starting in the late 80's and early 90's BEACE adopted the culture of Hip Hop while sitting in on recording sessions with a childhood group of friends and started secretly emceeing around this same time. The next 10 years would see BEACE’s confidence grow to a boiling-over point when he seized an opportunity to put his talent out in the open, front and center during an impromptu freestyle secession and with a childhood friend. After holding his own and receiving props BEACE became enamored with the feeling that comes over him when listeners express appreciation for his extremely distinct cadence driven lyrical delivery that offers unwitting listeners something extra each time they listen. BEACE writes all the lyrics he performs; subject matter tends to lend itself to dignified New World topics such as public education, politics, spirituality, emotions and the existence of secret societies in today’s world. BEACE draws creative inspiration from hip hop’s golden age luminaries such as Brand Nubians, Wu-Tang Clan, Company Flow, and Kool G Rap.
BEACE QUOTE: “Lyrically I live by the each-one-teach-one code of conduct. Hip hop means more to me than simply a way to make money; its a way of life that suits me. I adamantly disagree with the use of ghostwriters in hip hop. In complete contrast to the mainstream, I’m dead set on creating my own mold as opposed to identifying industry trends and conforming to them.”
