The Higher Ground Youth Coffee House in Evergreen, Colorado (about 30 minutes from Denver) is located in the converted fellowship hall of Lutheran Church of the Cross.
Mark and Linda Juntunen started this Christian concert venue in March, 2000, and they continue to facilitate this incredible ministry. Higher Ground provides a safe (drug, tobacco and alcohol free), Christ centered atmosphere for high school and college aged students on Saturday nights. We are dedicated to giving young, Christian bands and solo artists a place to showcase their music.
Bands that have played at Higher Ground include The Fray, Foolish Things, With Lifted Hands, Three Cord Wonder, Reese Roper from Five Iron Frenzy, Pilot For Kite, Soulja and many more. Almost every genre of music has been represented at this venue, while a wider variety of music is constantly being embraced. We love meeting new bands!
Not only is the talent incredible, but so is the coffee! Higher Ground serves some of the best coffee in town, at the most incredible prices! With a wide variety of creative espresso drinks, the coffee house serves anything you can get at a local Starbucks to inventive candy bar drinks emulating kid’s favorite snacks.
Higher Ground is open to highschool and college students from 7-11 on Saturday nights and every show is ALWAYS free! Higher Ground has been a staple in the Evergreen community since it opened in 2000. Outlasting countless other Christian venues, Higher Ground continues today because of its strong foundation on Christ and the faithfulness of Linda and Mark, a volunteer staff and students from the mountain community and the Denver metro area.
We welcome all genres of CHRISTIAN music, but keep in mind that this is a youth coffee house! We prefer to have bands and artists that will appeal to a younger audience. We also prefer that the members of the bands that play at Higher Ground be younger (no older than early 30s).
