Ross Key Country performs classic country, bluegrass, and blues, as well as popular country and southern rock. He is an established songwriter and vocalist, incorporating his own aterial into his show which has garnered much attention from local venues.
Versatility coupled with a unique and distinctive style of his own, Key maintains a firm grasp on country music as it was performed by country music legends decades ago. His vocals range from soft and rasping to a hard, driving sound that creates an air of originality. Unlike many in his field, Key doesn't duplicate or mimic. He makes each song his own, performing those songs that touch his heart in some manner.
Ross Key is a master of stringed instruments such as 6 & 12 string guitars, playing lead, rhythm and bass; mandolin, 5-string banjo, fiddle - and his current favorite - his Telecaster. He executes the piano with precision as well, and can play drums.
Ross has over 30 years of professional and semi-professional experience in the music industry. He has fronted for and played with music legends such as Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Jimmy Buffet, Hank Williams Jr., Emmylou Harris, and many more. He taught guitar professionally at the early age of 15 and toured Europe in 1979 with the Boy Scouts of America entertaining royalty in Sweden as well as other countries. Ross has traveled the professional bluegrass and gospel circuits throughout this period.
He is an accomplished songwriter and composer having sold his works through ASCAP.
Ross Key performs solo and with his band. He plays lead/rhythm guitar, dobro, fiddle, banjo, mandolin, and keyboard. He is affiliated with BMI Nashville. His song, Saturday Night, has been holding the #1 spot on the local country music chart at ReverbNation.com for more than 2 months.
