“Speakers for the Dead” is a metal band from Fresno, CA. It features former original “GRYP” singer Curtis Shamlin and guitarist Jason Garcia. GRYP had several #1 singles on national and international Metal radio, got spins on over 250 radio stations world-wide including KROQ, at one time ranked #2 on Mp3.com's overall chart, #5 on Album network (aggressive Chart), article in Metal Edge as 1 of the top 30 bands to look out for in 2002, music played on MTV's Road Rules,toured the U.S. for over 6 years, sold over 25,000 albums as an indie, and much more. After GRYP decided to call it quits, each was working on a new project. Curtis decided to call up Jason one day and asked if he’d like to work together again. They spent some time trying to find other musicians to complete the project. After trying out many drummers, one stood out from the rest. Gary Shipman (drums) was the next to join the band. He had been in several high profile bands in town over the years, most notably “Dirtnap” and was a perfect fit. The most difficult task was to find an accomplished dedicated bassist since over 17 bands in town were trying to find one themselves. The band came across Rob Slocum who was a member of September Children along side Gary in the early 90's and with his exceptional bass skills “Speakers for the Dead” is now complete. The band is playing shows on the West coast while working on a CD to be released sometime in early 2005

11/29/05 - Speakers for the Dead guitarist Jason Garcia has been diagnosed with brain and lung cancer. He still plans to finish his guitar parts next week for the new album set to be released worldwide in March 06. He will undergo Radiation and Chemo treatment at the end of the week. Please keep your thoughts and prayers with him while we work through these very trying times and hopefully get back on track within the next several months. 3/23/05 The CD has been sent for duplication as of 2:00pm today. Finally, finally, finally! We are now writing new material for a full length CD which we will be shooting for release in the Fall of 2005.

3/21/05 The CD is FINALLY done! We are picking up the Masters tomorrow and will be sending it to print on Wednesday the 23rd.
