Description:
the Concaves is a four piece original hard rock band. We consist of Drums, Bass and two guitars that share lead and rhythm parts. Our music is mostly original vocals and instrumental's but we also have a large number of covers we can do. our cd entitled, 'Warning Heavy Surf Advisory, just won best cd of Santa Cruz for 2004 by our local entertainment rag THE GOOD TIMES. We are currently branching out of town for more gigs, and recording our next cd.
Band Members:
Guitarist "DOGFISH" has been playing for many years. He played in Laney College jazz Ensemble as a young man. The band toured all over th SF bay area and hosted guest performers at the Oakland Auditorium such as Dizzy Gillespie, Cannonball Adderley, Herb Ellis giving dogfish a opportunity to back up some of the greats of Jazz.He has been in a number of bands in Santa Cruz but this is his most productive to date. Guitarist JD has been in a number of bands such as 'Fallout' and others giving him a lot of live exposure. He is a very original guitarist and writes great songs with totally original hooks and lyrics. Drummer 'MONGO' is a very well experiencd percussionist. He made a living for his famiy by playing for many years in a Dance Band and in rock bands. He also was the percussionist for the famous Hawaiian fire Dancer'TAPU'. Karl the Bassist, has years of guitar and bass playing experience and is the newest member of the group rocking a short scale bass.
