Music types: Rock, Pop
Description:
We dare you to peg them. Cmon. Peg 'em. Others have tried - Weezer meets Elvis Costello, Squeeze meets Radiohead, even The Clash meets James Blunt. Why so hard to peg? Because they are fresh, original and friggin' good. They're rock, they're melodic, they're quirky, they're modern. They are, as Paste Magazine said, "Exactly what Indie Rock needs now".

The sound is smart indie rock with a pop edge. The live show kicks: as put by Chart Attack's review of NXNE, "It would be difficult to find a more entertaining show than Breaking Laces". And the solid songwriting has produced songs played on radio stations around the country. Willem - aka Tong - fronts the band with a heart-on-his-sleeve singer/songwriter meets guitar-smashing-but-good-guy rocker vibe. Seth, on drums, was trained in jazz but has a mohawk mentality and has become adept at mixing sampling into live shows. And Rob, the tall, sexy Polish bassist and backing vocalist who just plain loves to play and play well, provides the necessary tie between the two. Their new album, Lemonade (Jan 2006), represents a sonic leap forward from the critically acclaimed Sohcahtoa (May 2004), proving that their non-stop touring to clubs, pubs, colleges and rock halls around the world has brought their unique vision into focus: rock-solid songwriting with a powerful and energetic sound. The full and fully alive sound that this three-piece rock band can make - acoustic-based, no less - is truly something to see. Currently, the boys are touring as far West as First Ave in Minneapolis, as far North as NXNE in Toronto, as far South as Birmingham, and everywhere up and down the Eastern Seaboard. Lemonade is currently available in stores and through online channels including Cdbaby.com. Festivals/Awards: NEMO 2006 NXNE 2005/2006 Fleshpot Festival 2005/2006 CMEAS UK Tour 2005 CMJ 2003/2005 Dewey Beach Festival 2005, 06 SXSW Showcase 2004 Featured artist in-studio at XMU Selected for Spin Magazine College Radio Show Many Top Ten Radio Charts CMJ Radio National Top 200 for both Sohcahtoa and Lemonade

09/08/06 - We've been quite busy lately. Working on a new EP that we hope to have completed by the time we leave for our big Fall '06 tour. Keep checking our shows page as we're constantly adding dates. And we'd love for you to share our love for Oh My God, our UK tourmates, who we're doing many shows with. A big shout out to our Buffalo-area fans: We're proud to announce that well be opening for the awesome Matt Pond PA!! Tickets are available off the Town Ballroom website. And have you not yet gotten a free Breaking Laces ringtone?? Get Call You Home on your phone for free. Yup.

08/28/06 - A teaser: the Laces are recording this week. Who says the music has to come in the form of a pre-packaged "album" with eleven songs? Watch here for more news as we figure out what it is. The "industry" might be messed up, but music is alive and well, and we just want to play it for you to hear it.
