Along with the release of over 3,500 copies of their self produced/ self recorded 4 song demo CD, First Impression’s eager eyes hasten the arrival of yet another E.P. hoping to take their energetic-infused pop rock to a superior level, and scoop in thousands of new fans. With a multiplying fan base, their powerful and energetic live performance is one no Chicago goer would want to miss. And if you don’t see them flying around on stage, captivating the crowd with power and energy, you can always find them polluting other Chicago land venues with their free CDs and flyers. With every member of this quintet pushing for every fan and promoter, the scene should get used to seeing the faces of these 5 talented individuals, because there not giving up anytime soon. Bursting with potential, years of musical experience and training, the determination of these five individuals, and the love for performing will take these guys beyond a point of succession they’ve only dreamed of.
Hailing from the south west Suburbs of Lemont, First Impression began the late winter of 2004, when vocalist Dan joined the 4 piece, and became the front man. Even before then, Steve, Mike, Bill, and Ryan found each other, and soon discovered their most similar love for music. Years prior to the forming of this group, brothers Bill and Steve privately studied piano before they were even 6 years old. Rock and Roll was soon discovered, and before Steve was 11, he was composing original music. Though one might look at these 4 guys as still very young, years and years of training and experience lie in the foundation of First Impression’s music. Their sound is a blend of multiple inspirations of which derived from previous artists who have gone far up the ladder, as well as raw emotions perfectly coordinating to the sounds you hear straight from your speakers. Whether it be found in the dissonance created by an intricate guitar lick, or the battle of 2 distinguishing vocalists as they intertwine, and over lap rhythms and melodies, First Impression is a masterpiece in musical form, tying together the threads of a better time for true musicianship, and the struggle we face to find something real in contemporary music, separating the truth from the fads that we must constantly see rise and fall. The chemistry we have here is one based on one common denominator- The love for music, and the dreams of going some where with it. With the bands that make it today, one should have little question in their minds that we will see First Impression right up there with them some day.
Two songs have been released from First Impression’s upcoming E.P. entitled “The Effects of Tuesday.” In the mean time, there is an E.P. Sampler with these 2 songs on them, and two songs from their previous demo. After a summer booked with shows, a full fledged merch table complete with different styles of shirts and stickers, promoting at all local venues and malls, it’s astounding that these guys have not only had time to do all this, and still write songs. If this doesn’t depict desire, nothing does. And the improvement, both in song, and performance is quite significant. If you doubt the idea that this band has continued to show improvement, you can go ahead and view the over 3,000 fans they have actively responding to previous shows and music. They have shared the stage with big named bands, and made sure their presence was made known at every venue they have played at. The motivated, hard working artists of First Impression are going to leave a lasting impression in the music industry. At this point, they’ve hardly made a nick for what’s to come.
