Description:
Can music really change our outlook on the world? Can it shed light on hidden truths and bring humanity closer together? The four members of the Tallahassee based rock band Eden’s Fill, Ryan Schmich, Caleb Howard, Brian McFarland, and Barry Epperson, would like to thinks so. They try to relate to many facets of life both dark and light spanning a wide range of ideas and thoughts in a single song. The stories and messages contained in the lyrics written primarily by Caleb and Barry come from a harmony of very different backgrounds and influences meshing on a common set of ideas. The music is a very collaborative effort with each member working together and challenging each other to create an ambiance that best captures the raw emotion of each particular song. Coming from so many different backgrounds they have found a common bond in their love for the music they have evolved to create.

The band started in May of 2001 on a whim. Barry met Ryan in a Taco Bell drive thru and ended up recruiting him to play drums in another band. Within weeks the band fell apart leaving both Ryan and Barry to start what has become Eden’s Fill. Ryan, who also played guitar, figured it would be easier to find a drummer and so began jamming with Barry on guitar. They found some other members and by August of 2001 they had recorded their first demo, which ultimately landed them their first gigs in early 2002.

After going through a number of bass players, including a number of months with out one at all they came to a solution in August 2002. For months Barry had been roommates with a bass player but they had never jammed. Finally after borrowing his bass equipment to record their second demo that got Eden’s Fill a shot to play a music festival near Huntsville, AL they asked him to join. In dire need of a low end to their live sound Caleb stepped up to play his own gear and has proved a valuable asset many times over since then.

Eden’s Fill went on over the next couple of years to record more demos and even build a crude studio that they have been evolving more and more. They continued playing shows and went through some six or so drummers. Around March of 2005 the band had been practicing with out a drummer retooling a lot of their old material and vigorously writing new songs. There was one aspect missing to make songs complete, really since the beginning they had always had trouble getting the songs to fully capture the exact feel they wanted. The answer was found in April 2005 when Brian came out to jam. Instantly the music took on the feeling Eden’s Fill had been striving for, with all the accents and tiny detail now very clear with the style that Brian brought to the band.

All and all Eden’s Fill strives to make the kind of music that can really get to a person, to make their brain work in a new way and to make them feel a new feeling or relate back to that familiar feeling they thought no one else could ever understand.

Band Members:
-Ryan Schmich joined in May 2001 in a Taco Bell Drive-Thru. He plays guitar in a fashion that never fails to amaze using so many influences from genres ranging Trice, to Tool and Zeppelin, To the Deftones.

-Barry Epperson had been trying to start a band in Tallahassee for a year when he met Ryan in the Dive-Thru. He sings mainly influenced by soulful Alternative Rock singers such as Layne Staley, and Scott Wieland, aswell as Anthony Kiedis and Bradley Nowell.

-Caleb Howard joined in August of 2002 by convincing the band he knew more about playing the bass than he actually did. It was probably one of the greatest thing to happen to the band. Now here in 2005 Caleb is a valued member of the team tossing out fat bass riffs and writing a good amount of the bands lyrics as well as a few entire songs.

-Brian McFarland is the newest member holding down the back bone on the drums kit. He's only been with the band since April of 2005 but in meshing styles perfectly with Caleb they make an unstoppable rhythm section.
